A team of top escape room enthusiasts from the portal Escape Roomers De recently visited Slovenia. On this portal, you can find rankings of the best European escape rooms, sorted by cities or countries. With more and more cities and countries being reviewed, the portal has become very important in choosing escape destinations, and it is significant for all of us that Slovenia is now featured on it.
Escape room players don’t travel to play just one game; when they visit a city or country, they play all the games available – even those not on the list.

Unfortunately, not all providers in Slovenia are on the list, and we had no influence over the selection of games at Enigmarium. The games they choose to play are selected independently after consulting with other players who have already visited Slovenia. They also consider which games have been nominated for the Terpeca Award, and sometimes they take into account whether the reviewers might have already played the game in another city, particularly if it’s a franchise model.

After their visit, they invited independent players to participate in the evaluation (on their FB page, at facebook.com/escaperoomers.de, and in the Slovenian FB group Escape Room Enthusiasts Slovenia). Fourteen enthusiasts from five different countries (each having played an average of 9.9 games from the list) cast their votes, resulting in the “Rank List Slovenia”, which now also places Slovenia among the popular “escape room destinations”.

Travelling with the purpose of playing local escape room games is becoming an increasingly popular way to spend free time and an original way to experience local culture. Therefore, being included in this list is truly crucial for the development of escape room activities in Slovenia.

We believe that Sensperience ranks first partly because it’s difficult to surprise people who have visited over 3,000 escape rooms with something that’s a bit different, which Sensperience definitely is. The ranking likely also reflects the trend that the newer-generation games – with a greater investment in immersive experiences, scenography and more active roles for gamemasters – are at the top.

We’d love it if more escape room providers were included on the list; however, this is at least a start. Heiner and the Escape Roomers (DE) team return to destinations and regularly update the rankings.

We are confident that this publication will attract many more visitors, which means more games and more opportunities for Terpeca nominations for all of us. This exposure and increased traffic will give all escape room providers in Slovenia a boost to create even more thrilling experiences.
