Co-founder and creative director of Enigmarium® experiences and president of the Association of Escape Room Activities of Slovenia Nataša Potočnik see escape rooms not only as entertainment or even edutainment but also as a powerful mechanism for groups of people to bond and enrich their communication and relations in a positive and challenging way. And while some people have been asking if the escape room trend will die out soon, team Enigmarium® has been asking ourselves: where else can this gaming approach enhance our lives?
After opening the first escape room in Ljubljana in 2014, she and her team at Enigmarium® have created over 25 original games. These trendsetting gamification projects in the Alpe-Adria region include the world’s first Escape Igloo® (Snovalec 2015 Award, Ministry of Tourism Slovenia), escape games fully incorporated into local history, a walking tour adventure (Unlock Ljubljana), a gamified (and awarded) exhibit at the Slovenian Alpine Museum in Mojstrana and gamification of a genuine medieval castle in Svetvinčenat, Croatia and the most visited tourist attraction in Slovenia: The Ljubljana Castle.
