ER Champ is more than a competition – it’s a global celebration of escape rooms.
“Every year, thousands of players from all around the world connect online to take part in the qualifiers. The best teams are then invited to the grand live finals – held in custom-built escape rooms,” explains Bartosz Idzikowski from Lock.me, the lead organizer of the event
“It’s a special kind of athlete we’re talking about – where sharp thinking and teamwork matter more than physical strength,” adds Nataša Potočnik, ER Champ ambassador for Slovenia and Creative Director at Enigmarium.
👻 This Year’s Theme: “Boo-tiful Adventure at Dalloway Manor”
The story-driven challenge is set in a spooky Victorian manor, filled with secrets and puzzles. Players were already introduced to this world during a recent stress test, which served as a technical rehearsal and warm-up.
Fun fact? One of the hardest puzzles wasn’t created by the Lock.me team – it came from the community puzzle design contest! The fastest team completed the test in just 15 minutes, and Asian teams stood out with exceptional performance (Slovenian teams gave it a shot, too!).

- 🗓️ Live Finals: October 19–20, 2025 – Sofia, Bulgaria
- 📍 Final Venue: The Purgatory – a specially built escape room competition arena!
- 🧠 Teams of 2 to 4 players can participate.
- ✅ It’s free to enter, played in English, and open worldwide.
💥 New this year: The finals will also include an escape room mini-conference, offering amazing networking and learning opportunities for enthusiasts, owners, and professionals alike.

The growth of ER Champ reflects a major trend: escape rooms are evolving from casual fun into a structured, competitive format, much like modern e-sports.
Last year’s champions, 6 Keys from the USA, showed that success depends on strategy, analyzing past challenges, and clearly defined team roles.
“This is gamification of logic and collaboration on a professional level,” says Idzikowski.
“And the best part? Almost anyone can try. ER Champ gives everyday puzzle fans a chance to measure up against the world’s best.”
