130 YEARS OF THE ALJAŽ TOWER ON TRIGLAV – An Exhibition that Will Stay with You

On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the Aljaž Tower, the Slovenian Alpine Museum invited team Enigmarium Extraordinary Experiences to collaborate – and so we can proudly say that this exhibition is not only a display of precious objects and important milestones, but a complete experience that takes you straight into the heart of history and invisibly weaves together the past, present, and future.

How can cultural heritage be presented in a way that goes beyond traditional display cases, panels, and descriptions – and allows the visitor to truly experience it?

This gamified experiential journey highlights objects and events, yet interprets them through an adventure. From the moment you enter Jakob Aljaž’s small room and look through his telescope toward Triglav, you begin to walk in the footsteps of a visionary. What was life like in those times? What did it mean to build a tower on top of Triglav without helicopters, without GPS, in thick fog and with countless challenges? You will feel a part of this on your own skin. (Hint: mountain weather is unpredictable – expect surprises!)

At the replica of the tower, through carefully designed interactive points, personal stories and photographs, you will discover what the Aljaž Tower means to Slovenians. Yet the exhibition does not remain trapped in the past – it boldly steps into the future. It questions mass tourism, reveals unrealized projects, and opens visions of what lies ahead. On the way back toward Mojstrana, the path leads you past Jakob Aljaž’s confessional, where you may enter and even speak with him. Yes – you can meet Aljaž himself, thanks to modern technology and imaginative approaches that make the exhibition truly unforgettable.

Part of the exhibition is designed as a labyrinth – and if you take the wrong turn, you may find yourself in a dead end of inappropriate behavior on Triglav. And that is precisely the point: to reflect on actions, values, and visions – and feel them more deeply.
